The “classic Bethel prank” is said to be the cow in the library — which would have been the old library, now the Mennonite Library and Archives. There was apparently no permanent damage done to the library (though cleanup must have been a chore in more ways than one), but the prank turned out to be not so good for the cow, who lost her calf as a result. Plus the librarian was said to be “greatly offended.” So if you think this prank bears repeating — maybe you should think again (and again).
